Are you one of the lucky people that has apples this year but you just don't know what to do with them? Then this is the day for you! Bring your NO SPRAY apples and clean containers down to market and we'll grind 'em up and press 'em for you! We will have a donation jar at the pressing station, please donate to support our work if you can! All donations go to the Clatskanie Farmers Market nonprofit organization.
We'll have farm to table hot food vendors, yummy apple baked goods, Peak Light Hard Cider from Sauvie Island on tap and new music on the CFM stage from the Lorna Baxter Trio! Plus OSU extension will be there to talk all things apples!
We will not be doing fresh pressed sampling at this event, however it's still fun to come checkout the process even if you don't have your own apples!
Details for pressing:
No windfalls please (apples on the ground.) We will be cleaning the grinders/presses in between batches and washing all apples. Drop by the station to add your name to the queue and enjoy the last market day while you wait (we can not guarantee wait times)!
What to bring:
CLEAN APPLES that haven't been sprayed and are harvested from the tree not the ground
CLEAN CONTAINERS, lots of them, like more then you think, apples make a lot of juice, and we won't have extra containers on hand.
"Please know that you will be receiving raw unpasteurized apple cider and therefore may contain harmful bacteria that can cause serious illness in children, the elderly, and persons with weakened immune systems." If you are concerned about this slight risk we encourage you to pasteurize your apple cider before consuming it.
